Crisis Hotline Program Soon Recruiting for Fall, 2008!
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must possess a GED or Diploma. Upon employment applicants are expected to submit proof of education.
- The Open Door submits and pays for clearances before employment. Child Abuse History and Criminal Abuse History Clearances are required.
- EXCELLENT communication skills both orally and in writing are required. Proficiency in english is necessary.
- At least 2 years of sobriety from alcohol and other drugs is required. Applicants CAN be in recovery from substance abuse but not currently in treatment at The Open Door or at another substance abuse treatment center. This does not include attendance at support group meetings which the agency encourages for recovery.
- In order to qualify for the position of Crisis Intervention Specialist applicants must first successfully complete the 65 hour Crisis and Suicide Hotline Training Program. The quality of the work performed and submitted by the applicant will be supervised and evaluated by the Crisis Hotline Coordinator in order to determine eligibility for the Crisis Intervention Specialist position. Based upon this supervision, observation and evaluation completed by the Crisis Hotline Coordinator, an applicant may or may not be recommended for hire by The Open Door upon completion of the training period. The training for the Crisis Intervention Specialist position is voluntary on the part of the applicants and is unpaid during the training period. Upon successful completion and recommendation of the Crisis Hotline Coordinator, applicants will be eligible for part-time employment paid at the minimum wage base and for on-call shifts which are paid at a per shift rate.
