Counseling Through Recovery: A Beacon of Hope at The Open Door
Counseling Through Recovery: A Beacon of Hope at The Open Door

At The Open Door of Indiana, Pennsylvania, we understand that the journey toward healing from substance use can feel overwhelming—but it's also filled with hope, courage, and possibility. For over 50 years, what began as a volunteer-operated crisis hotline has evolved into a full-service, licensed outpatient facility dedicated to guiding individuals through every step of their recovery journey. Today, our comprehensive offerings—including specialized drug and alcohol counseling—are tailored to support both individuals and their families in finding lasting wellness.

Personalized, Compassionate Counseling

Recovery is as unique as the individual embarking on it. That’s why our counseling services are designed to be flexible, respectful, and deeply personal. Our experienced clinicians develop customized therapy plans to address each client's specific challenges—whether it’s stress, depression, addiction, or co-occurring behavioral health concerns. We offer both in-person and telehealth options to ensure care is accessible, convenient, and effective.

More Than Treatment—A Full Continuum of Care

Counseling at The Open Door isn’t just a one-off session—it’s part of an integrated support system. Through our outpatient services, individuals begin with a pre-screening and referral to determine the most appropriate level of care. Educational programs like Insight, offered free to residents in Armstrong and Indiana counties, teach about the physical, social, and emotional impacts of substance use while imparting essential coping and communication skills.

For those in need of more structured support, our Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) provides a higher level of care—with a blend of group therapy, individual counseling, and family sessions tailored to your path forward.

Always There When It Matters Most

Recovery can feel fragile. At The Open Door, our crisis intervention services are available 24/7 for when life becomes unmanageable. Whether through our hotline, text messaging, or mobile outreach, our team is unwavering in offering judgment-free support, safety planning, and connections to the right resources.

Supporting Families and Loved Ones

Addiction doesn’t just affect one individual—it impacts families, partners, and friends. We offer support programs to help loved ones understand the recovery journey, navigate their own emotions, and provide meaningful support. Community education offerings and family-focused services help bridge the gap between loved ones and healing.

Recovery Is Possible—And You Don’t Have to Face It Alone

At The Open Door, we believe that recovery begins with being seen, heard, and supported. Our mission is to create a place where seeking help for mental health or substance use is as natural as going to a doctor for physical concerns. We’re proud that our clinicians, support staff, and volunteers work tirelessly to serve about 500 individuals each month—offering hope, encouragement, and healing.
